Obtaining Police Certificate
Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:
All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office. Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.
Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence. Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India.
Medical Exam Details
Prior to the interview, all immigrant visa applicants (regardless of age) must undergo a physical examination by a panel physician designated by the Consulate. Only authorized doctors may complete this examination. She should arrange to have her medical at latest 1-3 weeks (depending on which clinic is used) before her consulate interview. She should bring, passport, original appointment letter, three visa photos, and her medical and vaccination records. It is recommended she brings her vaccinations up to date while at the clinic. This is required later when she applies for her Green card in the USA, so by doing it now she will save herself time and expense later.
At the end of the medical they should either tell her they are sending the results to the embassy for her, or provide her with a sealed envelope of results and X-rays. She MUST NOT open the envelope. She should take it to the interview, still sealed.
