Obtaining Police Certificate
Fiancee should obtain Police Certificates.
All applicants over the age of 18 must provide a police certificate, called a “Certificado de Antecedentes Penales”. On June 4, 2012, Ecuador eliminated the former printed certificate and implemented a webpage where any person can review their own or someone else’s police certificates using an Ecuadorian national identification number or a passport number online and free of cost at www.ministeriodelinterior.gob.ec. This is now the only way to obtain a police record.
The police record has a box that states “Posee Antecedentes” (in English, “has record”). If the box is marked “SI” (in English, “YES”) the applicant must bring their complete court records, along with an English translation, to the Consulate on the day of their interview. Failure to comply with this requirement on the day of the interview will delay visa processing. If the box is marked “NO”, the applicant does not have a criminal record. Please note that this does not necessarily mean the subject has no police record, since police records can be purged upon the subject’s request without judicial permission. Also, the “Certificado de Antecedentes Penales” only shows cases that were sentenced, pending cases will not appear on this certificate.
If she has lived in other countries, she should apply for their police certificates asap, as depending on the country they may take a long time to provide. Most Police certificates are valid for 1 year.
Medical Exam Details
She should arrange to have her medical at latest 1-2 weeks before her consulate interview. She should bring her, passport, two visa photos, and her vaccination records. It is recommended she brings her vaccinations up to date while at the clinic. This is required later when she applies for her Green card in the USA, so by doing it now she will save herself time and expense later.
At the end of the medical they will provide her with a sealed envelope of results and X-rays. She MUST NOT open the envelope. She should take it to the interview, still sealed.

Cost of Medical Exam
Medical Exam costs $110 and results from Aurelio Andrade’s office can be picked up in the afternoon. They told us to come back after 3pm the following day. And a sealed letter and Xrays were issued.
Medicentro in Quito will tell you to come back 2 days later so be prepared to wait. Also, They told us we needed 4 passport style photos, not 2.
